For the 2021-2022 school year, we’ve identified three areas of focus for carrying out our Three Year Plan.
- Move to “grade based” home rooms with standards and team teaching – Our new teachers will help us split 3rd / 4th and 5th / 6th. In the second half of the school year (early 2022) we’ll begin preparing for the split of 7th and 8th. We’ll work towards helping each of our teachers play more and more to their strengths and areas of interest.
- Improve processes – We’re working to improve how we do things across three key areas of a student’s experience at LCA, including:
- Getting In – This includes the waiting list experience, applying at LCA, enrollment, and an initial assessment period once enrolled to follow-up and make sure that there’s a good fit.
- Thriving – This includes how we handle ongoing assessments of a student’s performance, feedback and discipline. This is especially important with the move towards standards based learning.
- Leaving – Whether by circumstance (e.g. parents relocation), choice (e.g. a decision to homeschool), or because of a poor fit, we want to make sure the “leaving” process is as smooth as possible and that we learn from each experience.
- Introduce “Friday Experiences” – We rework Friday to become the day that kids look forward to the most. Each Friday starts with “LCA Live” where we have a chapel-like experience and invite our community to participate. Then, the kids break off into the experiences that they picked, applied for, and were accepted into.
